Connecticut health system cancels vaccination appointments due to scarcity

The University of Connecticut’s health care system is canceling vaccination appointments for COVID-19 due to a lack of services.

On the COVID-19 vaccine program website, UConn Health he said his weekly vaccine distribution is being reduced due to product shortages at the state and federal levels.

All appointments for the first doses of the vaccine scheduled for Monday to February 8 are being canceled, and no further appointments for the first doses are being accepted. The health system said that decisions on canceling additional consultations after February 8 will be made next week.

UConn Health said it plans to keep its commitments to those scheduled to receive second doses.

Approximately 300,000 individuals in Connecticut received their first doses of the coronavirus vaccine on Friday, according Governor Ned Lamont’s office (D). About 64,000 received the second.

The state is currently vaccinating health professionals, residents of long-term care facilities, medical first aid and individuals aged 75 and over.

Connecticut reported 250,023 total positive COVID-19 cases on Saturday and 7,046 deaths.

Lamont said Thursday that he was considering easing some of the restrictions on the state’s coronavirus, including ending numerical limits in houses of worship and suspending the 10pm curfew in restaurants.
