Conflict with the Texas mask, round 2: woman arrested for refusing to wear mask on bench stuck in Office Depot again

A woman who was arrested last week for refusing to wear a mask inside a Galveston bank was arrested again on Wednesday morning for another clash of masks in an Office Depot, video taken by FOX 26 shows.

Texas city police officers were called to the Office Depot shortly after 9 am, where they found Terry Lynn Wright, 65, unmasked, reading something on his phone aloud.

An officer informed her that if she refused to leave, she would go to prison for trespassing.

“No, I will not. You are breaking the law,” she told the police as she was handcuffed. “This is a serious violation … You are taking away my rights.”

“I’m trying to educate you about my rights,” shouted Wright as she was escorted out of the store by the police.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott revoked the state’s mask mandate earlier this month, but private companies may still require facial coverage as well as other security measures.

As soon as they left the store, one of the officers evidently recognized her from last week’s viral video in which she was arrested for refusing to wear a mask at a Bank of America.

One of the policemen asked, “Are you the other lady who caused trouble in Galveston?”

“No, I was the lady the other day who was following my rights,” she replied.

Two arrest warrants were issued for Wright’s arrest in connection with the previous incident, so she was taken to Galveston County Prison on charges of criminal invasion and resistance to arrest. No additional charges were made for the Office Depot incident.
