Pyra and Mythra were recently revealed to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as the fourth challenger two in one of the Fighters Pass Vol. 2. More information about these reps of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be revealed during Mr. Sakurai Presents’ next presentation, which is due to open on March 4, 2021 – this coming Thursday – market.
About a month after Sephiroth was revealed as the character to come to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate after Steve from Minecraft, an anonymous poster on 4chan was able to correctly predict that the next newcomer would come from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. The post in question also provided some very evident commentary on the next two challengers that would come after the replay from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 – which we now know to be Pyra and Mythra as a two-in-one fighter who can freely transform into each other.
“Nintendo is currently planning to host a three-hour live concert in 2022, where a symphony orchestra will play orchestrated interpretations of songs that appear in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate,” said the anonymous poster. “This event will be held in Japan after the completion of the second Fighters Pass and they are taking all necessary precautions to make the event happen. They will broadcast the event live on YouTube for everyone around the world to see. Eventually, Nintendo will distribute a soundtrack disc on the My Nintendo service. “
They then provided a list of songs that were supposed to be played during the three-hour event. It seems that every character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (with one exception) would receive a time section dedicated to them with the symphony orchestra playing a song that highlights this character. The main themes of Super Smash Bros. 64, Melee, Brawl, Smash 4 and Ultimate would also be mixed during the show.
For example, themes like “Jump Up, Super Star!” would be played for Mario, “Main theme – The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild” would be played for Link, “Open Your Heart” would be played for Sonic, “Meta Knight’s Revenge” would be played for Meta Knight, “Vampire Killer” would be played for Simon Belmont, “One-Winged Angel” would be played for Sephiroth and so on.
What’s strange about this list is how Ken from Street Fighter is completely absent. Other Echo Fighters like Lucina, Dark Pit, Daisy and Richter seem to have songs that highlight their presence on Smash. Perhaps the poster accidentally omitted Ken?
The song listed after the “One-Winged Angel” theme was “Counterattack – Xenoblade Chronicles 2”. With the exception of Piranha Plant, each DLC character added to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate expands the game’s already huge library of music tracks. Notably, “Counterattack” was one of the themes of Xenoblade Chronicles 2 that played during the Pyra & Mythra reveal trailer.
The two songs listed after “Counterattack – Xenoblade Chronicles 2” and before the “Galeem / Dharkon” theme are “N. Sanity Beach” and “Proof of a Hero” – themes that come from the Crash Bandicoot and Monster Hunter franchises, respectively.

Since there is already Monster Hunter content in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, “Proof of a Hero” is already present in the game, although it is likely that this theme will receive some kind of remix if a Monster Hunter representative were added to the game.
It is worth mentioning that the only parts of the DLC Mii costume that did not return from Smash 4 are still Lloyd Irving’s Tales of Symphonia pieces and Monster Hunter’s fantasy pieces. If Monster Hunter is really planned, then this would probably be the only real opportunity to relaunch these parts of the Mii costume for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.
Rumors of an unverifiable “five-year plan” document for Crash Bandicoot suggest that Crash is scheduled for his debut in the Super Smash Bros. series. in 2021. Other plans that were supposed to be on the list included the concepts of a Crash Team Racing remake and a new Crash Bandicoot game (Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time) – both of which have already happened.
A concert of this size implies some purpose for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, which probably means there would be no Fighters Pass Vol. 3. This fits what Masahiro Sakurai said earlier about how the continued development that has occurred since Smash 4 will come to an end after the completion of Fighters Pass Vol. 2
Nintendo would probably require permission from all intellectual property owners to do something like this. In addition, the symphony orchestra would need time to practice this three-hour concert, which provides possible explanations as to why this poster would have this information. All of this looks like a giant undertaking that would make it difficult for Nintendo to be discreet.
As always, it is important to take all the rumors with a grain of salt, as there were many similar “leaks” that declared that Dante, Ryu Hayabusa, Doom Guy and many others should come to Smash too.
