A new concept by Antonio De Rosa imagines an Apple hardware cryptocurrency wallet, complete with Apple card integration.
One element of the concept is quite far-fetched – the idea that you could mine a significant amount of encryption on a Mac – but the cold wallet concept is interesting, and I feel that this is an area where Apple can make a real difference. ..
At the center of the concept is a beautiful Apple hardware wallet with a touchscreen similar to a touch bar and a Touch ID sensor.
De Rosa sees this integrating with the Apple Card, so that his cryptographic balances are visible on the Apple Wallet and can be spent through the card.
The concept also envisions the ability to transfer encryption between individuals.
The hardware key is also shown as cryptographic mining monitoring by Macs or other Apple devices. This is unrealistic today, due to the enormous processing power required to obtain a valuable return. Only dedicated mining platforms or sizeable networks stand a chance today.
But the central concept of Apple creating a cold wallet for encryption strikes me as interesting. Even many technicians are concerned about the risks of losing or stealing money, so a hardware wallet is a good approach, and Apple has the necessary level of confidence. In fact, Cupertino’s company could even make its own cryptocurrency exchange. With Apple’s branding and marketing, this could turn encryption from a somewhat nerdy phenomenon into something that ordinary consumers could adopt.
