Composer and singer Armando Manzanero dead at 85 after report of battle against coronavirus

The famous musician Armando Manzanero died at the age of 85.

The news of his death was confirmed by the Sociedad de Autores y Compositores de Mexico (Society of Authors and Composers of Mexico), of which Manzanero was president.

“The romantic soul of Mexico and the world is in mourning. The great Master is gone,” the organization said in a tweeted statement, according to Google Translate.

The message continued, noting the musician’s contributions to copyright.

The declaration concluded: “See you soon, dear brother!”

The message came along with a sweet photo of Manzanero holding his hand over his heart.

According to Billboard, several media outlets reported that the cause of the musician’s death was the coronavirus.

El Universal reports that Manzanero was diagnosed with COVID-19 on December 17, just five days before he was intubated. He should be extubated until his case got worse.

In addition to his own illustrious career, the musician wrote songs for names like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Andrea Bocelli and others.

The star received a Grammy nomination in 1971 as song of the year for the hit “It’s Impossible”. Decades later, he received an award for all the work of the organization, as well as the Latin Recording Academy. In 2001, he won a Latin Grammy with the album “Duetos”.
