Companies that develop applications to upload vaccine passports

Experts speculate that an eventual return to the normal pre-coronavirus world from crowded shows, sporting events, films and flights abroad may require an individual to have a passport for the vaccine, CNN reported on Sunday.

In order to prepare for such a scenario and give individuals useful authorization to carry out these activities, several companies are developing applications for smartphones so that people can conveniently send details of their coronavirus tests and vaccines.

One example is the Common Trust Network, an application developed by non-profit groups with the aim of creating a reliable model to validate the health status of individuals while traveling. The Common Trust Network has already partnered with several airlines and hundreds of healthcare systems in the United States

The group created a CommonPass app that allows users to upload relevant medical information, such as a vaccination voucher, which can generate a health certificate or pass in the form of a QR code that can then be shown to the authorities without revealing confidential information.

That means, “You can be tested every time you cross a border,” Thomas Crampton, director of marketing and communications for The Commons Project, told CNN.

Big tech companies are also working on similar projects. For example, IBM has developed its own application, the Digital Health Pass, which allows companies and locations to customize indicators that would be mandatory for entry – such as coronavirus tests, temperature checks and vaccination records.

Credentials related to these indicators can be stored in a mobile wallet for easy convenience.
