The Nolan Arenado saga came to a resolution when the Colorado Rockies agreed to negotiate their franchise for the St. Louis Cardinals.
According to several reports, the Rockies are including $ 50 million to help cover part of the remaining six years and $ 199 million in the Arenado contract. He would have waived a total ban clause in exchange for a year and $ 15 million added to the contract.
Arenado will still maintain a clause prohibiting trading that may be enforced after this season, and another after that of 2022.
For now, the deal signals an end to persistent rumors that the Newport Beach, Calif., Native would eventually force his way from Coors Field to Dodger Stadium. This has always seemed to be an unlikely outcome, however, and according to David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports, the Rockies remained firm in their refusal to negotiate with the Los Angeles Dodgers:

In December 2019, it was reported that the Dodgers did not believe the Rockies were willing to work with them in a Sandy exchange. A month later, it was said that Colorado did indeed stand against the idea of exchanging Arenado for Dodgers.
That didn’t stop LA’s interest at the end of last year, when it became clear that the All-Star was being purchased again five times. However, this was followed by a report that the Rockies were more inclined to negotiate with the New York Mets than Dodgers.
Amid their longstanding interest in Arenado, the Dodgers still received plenty of production on third baseman Justin Turner. He is a free agent for the second time since joining the organization, and the Dodgers are expected to hire Turner again.
Roberts saw a ‘good deal’ for Arenado, Rockies
Undoubtedly, the Dodgers’ best chance of acquiring Arenado was approaching two years ago, when he would become a free agent after the 2019 season. However, in March of that year, he signed an eight-year contract extension.
“He is a great player and obviously they wanted to keep a local player with them,” said Dodgers coach Dave Roberts at the time. “It’s a good deal for him, good deal for the team, so it’s good for the game and it makes our job a lot more difficult.”
