Comic-Con plans a personal convention over the Thanksgiving weekend of 2021

San Diego Comic-Con is returning in 2021. Despite recent news that the massive pop culture convention would become virtual in July, plans for the fall summit have moved forward. Comic-Con International announced its plans to hold a face-to-face convention in 2021.

The three-day event entitled “Comic-Con Special Edition” will take place on Thanksgiving weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 26-28 at the San Diego Convention Center.

We hope that by autumn conditions will allow for more public meetings, ”said the announcement. “The Comic-Con Special Edition will be the first face-to-face convention produced by the organization since Comic-Con 2019 and the first since the beginning of the global pandemic COVID-19. The autumn event will allow the organization to highlight all the great elements that make Comic-Con such a popular event each year, in addition to generating the necessary revenue not only for the organization, but also for local companies and the community.

Organization spokesman David Glanzer noted the impact that the quarantine had on small businesses in the statement as well. “We hope that this event will strengthen our financial reserves and mark a slow return to larger personal meetings in 2022.”

This additional convention was announced earlier this year in the wake of the 2021 virtual ad. The massive convention of more than 100,000 Comic-Con participants proper has officially been moved to 2022. This fall offering will be an entirely separate convention, but will be held in the same location and supported by the same company.
