Comedian Chris D’Elia is speaking out for the first time in months since he denied allegations of sexual harassment.
In a YouTube video posted on Friday, D’Elia said his previous relationships were “consensual”, but admitted that after months of therapy he now understands that his attitudes and actions towards sex are wrong.
“I maintain the fact that all my relationships have been consensual and legal. That’s the truth. I, during that kind of time away, have been looking for a lot of medical advice, therapy and things like that. What I came to understand is that this it was always about sex for me. My life was sex, he controlled my life “, says D’Elia.
The comedian comes to recognize that he “had a problem” and still has.

“It’s not like months later everything is better. I need to work on it,” said D’Elia.
The 40-year-old comedian reflected on the thirty he spent traveling for striking. He admitted that he “felt lucky” at the time because his notoriety made it easier to find women to have sex with.

The comic first addressed the charges of sexual misconduct against him last June.

“I know I said and did things that may have offended people during my career, but I never intentionally harassed any underage women at any time,” D’Elia said in a statement on Wednesday.
“All of my relationships have been legal and consensual and I have never met or exchanged inappropriate photos with people who tweeted about me,” he said.

The standup comic added: “That said, I’m really sorry. I was a dumb guy who ABSOLUTELY let himself get involved in my lifestyle. It’s MY fault. I recognize him. I’ve been reflecting on this for some time now and I promise that I will continue to do better. “
The comedian started receiving criticism from Twitter users after a woman came forward with allegations on Tuesday that she couldn’t imagine D’Elia being cast as “the pedophile” in the Netflix series “You”.
