Colts Capology: Lieutenant Anthony Castonzo’s retirement is a major blow, but frees up some extra space for the salary cap

With its longstanding book support Anthony Castonzo having called it a career, the Indianapolis Colts received at least some positive news in the afternoon – as the retirement of the great AC will free up $ 16 million of additional space for the general manager Chris Ballardcast of for the next off season:

That means the Colts now have a projected $ 72.7 million total space available to the franchise – although I’m sure the franchise would have happily exchanged that extra maneuver space for having a healthy Castonzo back for another season. Final.

Unfortunately, Castonzo shut down his boots forever and the Colts are now without a rock-solid veteran leftist attack.

However, his retirement offers the team more flexibility to potentially support the lineup elsewhere – even if it is not exactly in Castonzo’s previous position (since the proven left tackle options usually don’t hit the free agency).

Regardless of what happens, the offensive attack that will replace Castonzo will have some big shoes to fill in 2021 – although the Colts have some extra salary limits in their pockets now to work.
