Two games involving qualifying teams scheduled for Saturday were postponed on Friday due to problems with COVID-19. The ACC announced the No. 19 Clemson game on Saturday in North Carolina after a positive test on the Clemson program. The Tigers will pause all the team’s activities, which will also force Tuesday’s game in Syracuse to be postponed.
The game between Syracuse and North Carolina, originally scheduled for January 2, will now be played on Tuesday
In addition, on Friday, a potentially crucial and revealing SEC clash scheduled for Saturday between Missouri’s number 13 and unrated but rising LSU encountered an obstacle. The game was postponed 24 hours before the game, due to the positive results of COVID-19 and subsequent contact tracking and quarantine efforts within the Missouri program. A rescheduled date has not yet been determined.
As a result, Missouri is pausing all of the team’s activities indefinitely while working to organize its mitigation efforts. The next games against Vanderbilt and Texas A&M are potentially in danger, but the Tigers said on Friday that decisions on the status of those games will be made at a later date.
LSU will now face Ole Miss on Saturday at 8:30 pm ET.
The hurdle is one of many that have already risen on Saturday and the second to affect SEC teams after South Carolina vs. Ole Miss has been postponed. Virginia Tech, Louisville, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon State and Colorado are among those in the structure of the power conference who were also forced to postpone gaming related to the problems of COVID-19.
