Coleman Hutzler to join Ole Miss’ technical team

Head coach of Ole Miss Rebels Lane Kiffin supposedly added to his coaching staff. According to Matt Zenitz, senior SEC football reporter for AL.com, Kiffin Coleman Hutzler for become the coordinator of the special teams of the Rebels.

Hutzler spent the last season with Texas Longhorns as a defensive co-coordinator and coach for linebackers. However, Hutzler has a lot of experience at the SEC. He spent several years at the conference, including four seasons as a coordinator for special teams in South Carolina.

Hutzler could essentially trade with the former technical assistant to the Rebels Blake Gideon after he left to join the Longhorns team under Steve Sarkisian.

He was also among the 20 units of special teams in South Carolina and helped several players achieve SEC honors.

Former Texas head coach Tom Herman praised Hutzler last season after joining his team. He mentioned that Hutzler has the ability to connect with players and staff at different levels.

“When we had a chance to sit down and talk to him, he certainly lived up to everything we had heard,” said Herman last season through the Austin American-Stateman. “He has a wealth of knowledge and experience, is highly energetic and has accomplished many things while spending a large part of his career as a coach in key SEC environments.”

Hutzler will join a renewed Ole Miss technical team. Kiffin recently signed a new contract with the Rebels and is committed to building a bowl game look for the first time in five seasons.

The rebels played in the Outback Bowl and came out with a 26-20 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers. Ole Miss Vice Chancellor of Athletics Keith Carter noted that getting Kiffin back is a big step towards the future of the rebels.

“This is an investment in the future of Ole Miss Football,” said Carter. “We hired Coach Kiffin with the hope of revitalizing our football program, and in just one year, he did just that. His innovative offensive approach broke the SEC records and, with the arrival of a top 20 recruiting class, the future is bright under the leadership of Coach Kiffin. We are committed to it and providing the necessary resources to take this program to the next level. “

Kiffin is enthusiastic about the team’s success. He noted that there is more on the horizon for the program.

“I appreciate Keith’s leadership and his commitment to building a winning football program,” said Kiffin. “Although I am proud of what our team has accomplished this season, we have bigger aspirations for Ole Miss Football. This is just the beginning and I look forward to continuing to build a championship program. “

Hutzler has a chance to make his mark with the show, as he is supposed to join Kiffin next season.
