‘Cobra Kai’ third season premieres on Netflix

Get ready to enter a new year in the form of a fighter: Netflix is releasing the third season of “Cobra Kai” a week earlier than originally planned, now scheduled to launch all episodes on January 1st.

The day after the season’s flow, the “Cobra Kai” cast will appear on “The Netflix Afterparty” to talk about the final season of their martial arts comedy alongside presenters David Spade, Fortune Feimster and London Hughes.

“Cobra Kai” is the continuation of the 1980 film series “The Karate Kid”, starring Ralph Macchio and William Zabka in their respective reprized roles by Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence. Now an adult, Daniel is looking for answers about his past while Johnny seeks redemption for things he has done in his own past. Former rivals now have to come together to save John Kreese’s (Martin Kove) dojo, who took over as sensei with his infamous “merciless” philosophy.

The third season also shows everyone staggering after the violent fight between dojos, which left Miguel (Xolo Mariduena) in a coma. The stakes for his next season have never been higher, with, as the streamer puts it, the soul of the Valley at stake, and the fate of every student and sensei hanging on the scales.

“Cobra Kai” also stars Courtney Henggeler, Tanner Buchanan, Mary Mouser, Jacob Bertrand, Gianni Decenzo and Peyton List. Yuji Okumoto and Tamlyn Tomita will also appear.

The show was written and produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg through their production company, Counterbalance Entertainment. Will Smith, James Lassiter and Caleeb Pinkett are executive producers at Overbrook Entertainment, along with Susan Ekins, in association with Sony Pictures Television. Macchio and Zabka serve as executive co-producers.

Although Netflix previously released the first two seasons of “Cobra Kai” on its platform, this was a second broadcast after the series originated on YouTube Premium. Now, with its third season and beyond (the show has already been renewed for season 4), it is a Netflix original.
