CNN anchor Jake Tapper said on Sunday that he would not hire insiders from Trump, such as White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany and Jason Miller, the senior adviser to the Trump campaign, because “there is no value” in interviewing them.

In CNN’s “Reliable Sources”, Tapper was asked about the challenges of covering the Trump administration, specifically whether he felt there were “diminishing returns” because he “was not understanding the truth”.

Tapper said “there were some people who were so liars that I just wouldn’t put them on the air”. He specifically named McEnany and Miller as such people.

“These are people who tell lies the way most people breathe,” Tapper told presenter Brian Stelter.

He later added that McEnany “tells lies all the time. She can’t recognize reality. I’m just not going to put someone like that on the air.”

McEnany replied on twitter, calling Tapper’s comments “a therapy session for a broken net” and saying that Tapper is “lazy enough to participate in launching unfounded personal attacks, with ZERO evidence.”

“Jake’s real problem: I don’t do it. I don’t lie. But I claim the media’s lies (ie CNN Russia’s collusion!),” She said.
