CNN guest summons the network in the air for the Cuomo brothers’ love

A CNN guest on Sunday morning called on the network for allowing anchor Chris Cuomo to conduct brilliant “a-thon love” interviews with his now-plagued scandal brother, Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Washington Post media critic Erik Wemple reversed the script when “Trustworthy Sources” host Brian Stelter asked about “media coverage” of the governor’s “so far” scandals.

“I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the great story of CNN itself in the media here,” said Wemple.

“Chris Cuomo, the 9 o’clock anchor, who covered Andrew Cuomo and had all these wonderful love interviews with him – more than 10 of them.”

“They lifted the conflict of interest rule for Chris Cuomo in these interviews,” continued Wemple. “However, suddenly, they applied it again, now that Andrew Cuomo was in the middle of a historic scandal in the Albany House of Representatives.

“I think this is a big black eye for CNN,” he concluded – before Stelter changed the subject.

CNN said last month that it has reinstated its “rule” that prevents Chris Cuomo from interviewing or covering his brother, reversing the policy after the governor made frequent appearances in 2020.

The TV presenter briefly addressed the charges against his brother on the air on March 1.

“Obviously, I am aware of what is happening to my brother,” the anchor said at the top of your primetime show. “And I obviously can’t cover that, because he’s my brother.”

“Now, it is clear that CNN has to cover,” continued the presenter. “They have covered this extensively and will continue to do so.”

Cuomo, 63, has been accused in the past few weeks of inappropriate behavior or comments by seven women, but has vehemently denied having done anything inappropriate. He is also being criticized for hiding data on the number of COVID-19 deaths in state nursing homes.
