CNN criticized for questionable tweet referring to the murder as an ‘accident’

Twitter users were quick to point out the understatement in a CNN tweet that referred to an alleged murder as an “accident”.

“The police said the girls, aged 13 and 15, assaulted an Uber Eats driver with a Taser while stealing it, which resulted in an accident in which he was fatally wounded,” CNN wrote in the tweet.

In an attempted car theft, two teenage girls fought an Uber Eats delivery driver, leaving Mohammad Anwar, 66, dead when he was thrown out of the vehicle.

“Two girls murdered a man after his car was stolen. It fixed it for you, ”wrote a Twitter user in response to the tweet.

“They murdered him. The teenagers murdered the driver. You can say that,” wrote another user.

“CNN is run by apologists for brutality,” wrote Greg Gutfeld of Fox News, citing the CNN tweet.

The suspects, who the police say are between 13 and 15 years old, were charged with murder in Anwar’s death.

One of the girls told DC police officers that they went out with a stun gun to steal a car on Tuesday, according to detective Chad Leo’s testimony in court.

The girls got into Anwar’s car at about 4:30 pm at the Navy Yard Metro Station while he delivered, Leo said.

DC TEENAGERS ACCUSED IN DEATH CAR JACKING ATTEMPT

Anwar took the girls to Nationals Park, where he stopped the car and a fight broke out between them. Authorities, quoting the police, said Anwar partially left the car and got stuck between the door and the driver’s seat while the teenagers allegedly started the vehicle, the New York Post reported.

The car then swerved forward, causing Anwar to be fatally thrown when the car made a sharp right turn, causing him to flip over on his side and crash into two parked cars.

Authorities arrived at the scene and found Anwar suffering from “life-threatening injuries,” police said. DC Emergency Medical and Fire Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
