CNN Acosta: Sarah Sanders to ‘gas’ campaign for Arkansas governor

CNN anchor Jim Acosta said on Monday that former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders will run a “gas” campaign for the Arkansas governor.

In a campaign video posted on Twitter, Sanders said that “today, our freedom and the rule of law are under attack” and said: “I faced the media, the radical left and its culture of ‘canceling, and I won’.

Acosta quickly responded to Sanders’ video with a tweet of his own.

“Cancel culture? Did she win? Sarah tried to ban me from WH (using an adulterated video) and lost in federal court. The federal judge appointed by Trump was not believing her lies. This campaign will be lit.”

Acosta, who previously served as CNN’s chief correspondent at the White House, got into several fights with Sanders and other Trump officials during briefings.

Acosta had his press badge suspended by the White House for a brief period after a fight with an intern trying to remove the microphone during a back and forth with then President Trump in 2018.

The incident in question occurred when Acosta accused Trump of “demonizing immigrants” for calling a Central American caravan bound for the United States “an invasion”. During an extensive discussion, a White House intern tried to remove a microphone from Acosta’s hand while he questioned Trump. Acosta continued to hold the microphone and tried to prevent the aide from grabbing it.

After that incident, Trump attacked Acosta and said, “CNN should be ashamed to have you working for them. You are a rude and terrible person. You shouldn’t be working for CNN. You are a very rude person. The way you treating Sarah Huckabee is horrible. And the way you treat other people is horrible. You shouldn’t be treating people like that. “

CNN subsequently sued the White House for First Amendment violations and two weeks later Acosta’s press badge was reinstated. The network announced earlier this month that Acosta would step down from the White House and take on a domestic correspondent and a weekend anchor role. Sanders left the White House in 2019.

Sanders’ father, Mike Huckabee, previously served as governor of Arkansas. In announcing her campaign, she said: “My opponents will do everything in their power to destroy me, but I will not apologize for who I am or what I am fighting for … I will not bow to the radical left, not now, never. “
