Windows Insider members encountered a problem with the latest Windows 10 feature pack, which affects part of the screen capture utility.
“We are removing the ability to copy and paste a screen clipping directly into a folder in File Explorer for the time being due to a problem discovered thanks to feedback from Windows Insiders. We look forward to reactivating this feature in a future update after we resolve this issue, ” Microsoft said in a blog post.
Typically, Windows 10 users have the ability to copy and paste screenshots directly into a folder on their PC or another program like Slack. But Microsoft does not know what is causing the problem, so the company has disabled the feature only for Windows Insider users. Windows 10 users not enrolled in the program or Insiders who have not yet applied the latest feature pack are not affected.
The Crop Tool and the latest Crop and Sketch are a big part of Windows 10. They are more efficient at taking screenshots and easy to navigate for users. Instead of using the Print Screen key on the keyboard and editing / saving screenshots in a photo editing program, all of this is integrated into the tool. Microsoft will likely find and fix what’s wrong with this part of the latest version of Windows Insider before distributing updates to regular users.
Microsoft has also made some minor changes to the copy and paste function in Windows 10 as a whole in recent months. The clipboard, for example, used to store only text entries, but now saves images and HTML content as well, such as gifs and emojis. There is also an entire GIF section that shows users the trends of GIFs on the Internet, and users can also access their clipboard (Windows key + V) on multiple devices, activating the Sync between devices feature in settings.
