Cleveland Clinic suspends vaccine appointments in Martin County, Weston

STUART, Fla. – Cleveland Clinic Florida announced on Thursday that it had reached the supply limit for the COVID-19 vaccine and suspended scheduling appointments at Martin County North and South and Weston Hospital, although Indian River Hospital continues to schedule appointments as the supply allows.

Martin Health has scheduled approximately 2,000 vaccinations and Weston Hospital 2,200 for the next week and will resume scheduling patients when there is an additional offer.

“Our call centers have had an extremely high volume of calls since opening on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, for patients who meet the vaccination criteria under an executive order from Governor Ron DeSantis,” wrote the Cleveland Clinic in a press release.

“We are working closely with the state of Florida to receive additional supplies of vaccine early next week.”

The Cleveland Clinic Florida region announced on Tuesday that it would begin scheduling COVID-19 vaccines on Wednesday.

Vaccination will only be done by appointment for those who meet the following criteria:

  • Cleveland Clinic patients over 65
  • Cleveland Clinic patients with certain high-risk medical conditions at risk for severe COVID-19 disease. This includes patients with obesity, cancer, COPD, chronic kidney disease, immunocompromised status, heart disease, sickle cell disease, pregnancy and type 2 diabetes
  • Hospitalized patients who meet the criteria and are being discharged from the hospital
  • Community health care providers and first responders.

Patients who meet the criteria can call and schedule their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The second dose will be scheduled after administration of the first.

Patients at Cleveland Clinic units in Broward, Palm Beach and Indian River counties can call 954-659-5950 to make an appointment.

Cleveland Clinic Martin Health patients can schedule their vaccination by calling 772-419-3308.
On Monday, the Cleveland Clinic inoculated more than 2,800 health professionals across the region. These caregivers will receive a second dose after 28 days.

“We are grateful to be able to offer this vital protection to our caregivers, our healthcare partners and the patients we serve,” said Dr. Conor Delaney, CEO and president of Cleveland Clinic Florida. “This is a critical step in our ability to protect our communities and manage the impact of the COVID-19 virus.”
