Before an extremely important game on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Cleveland Browns has a positive COVID-19 test within their coaching staff and the club’s facilities were closed on Saturday morning, said Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.
Garafolo said Sunday’s game will continue as scheduled.
The Browns released a statement on Saturday morning:
“The Cleveland Browns were informed this morning that a member of their technical team tested positive for COVID-19. The team will continue the virtual meetings as the facility is closed while contact tracking is carried out. We will consult with the league’s medical professionals about the appropriate next steps. “
The positive test and facility closes just one day after the team recorded no new positive tests after a Thursday when NFL Network Tom Pelissero reported that linebacker Malcolm Smith and tight end Harrison Bryant tested positive for COVID -19. Cornerback Denzel Ward was also placed on the reserve / COVID-19 list on Thursday.
Cleveland will play Pittsburgh in Week 17 in search of a win to secure a playoff spot.
- Cincinnati Bengals defensive striker Mike Daniels, who has started 11 games this season, tested positive for the coronavirus, Ian Rapoport and Garafolo of the NFL Network Insider reported Saturday morning. Daniels will miss Sunday’s game against the Baltimore Ravens. Another Bengals player showed symptoms and the team is working with close contact protocols. A scheduled team review was postponed to Saturday, while the team follows the contract tracking.
