Clark County reports six new deaths from COVID-19, but the lowest weekly total of new cases since October

Clark County reported six deaths from COVID-19 on Friday, although the county ended the week with the fewest new cases since early October, according to data from Clark County Public Health.

The deaths were of two men in their 50s, a woman in their 60s and a man and two women in their 80s or older, according to Public Health. Everyone had underlying health problems. Their deaths bring the total number of COVID-19 to 219.

Seven deaths from COVID-19 were reported this week, compared with 10 last week and 20 the previous week.

Public Health reported 37 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, bringing the county total to 17,987. There have been 252 cases recorded since February 12, an average of 36 per day. The weekly total was the lowest since 251 cases were reported in the week ending October 9.

There were 262 cases of active COVID-19 still in isolation on Friday, compared to 258 on Thursday, according to Public Health data.

Hospitalizations have decreased. There were 35 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in Clark County on Friday, compared with 37 on Thursday. A person is hospitalized awaiting test results, below three Thursday, according to Public Health data.

Public Health reported that 59.4% of licensed ICU beds in the county were occupied on Friday, down from 78.1% on Thursday.

Daily information on administered vaccines is not available, but on Monday, Clark County Public Health reported that 39,252 doses were administered in Clark County, with 35,776 Clark County residents receiving one dose and 12,482 residents of Clark County. Clark with two shots.

Clark County received 2,925 first doses and 8,275 second doses for the week of February 15-21.
