COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio state football has become a former player to fill a crucial role in supporting the player.
According to the OSU staff directory, CJ Barnett was hired as director of player development and foreign affairs. Former security officer Buckeye was recently employed as an officer in the Columbus Police Department.
Buckeye Scoop first reported the hiring.
Barnett filled the vacant position when Ryan Stamper left to join Urban Meyer’s first coaching staff with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Barnett played for the 2009-13 Buckeyes and started for three years in high school. Over those three seasons, he totaled 215 tackles with 12 defended passes and four interceptions.
The director of the player development function assists players in a variety of non-football issues, such as academics, career plans and off-field issues. Stamper, for example, was responsible for the program’s Real Life Wednesday.
