City Of OKC Issues ‘Voluntary’ Boil Notice to Some Residents

Oklahoma City said it recommends some residents to voluntarily boil the water if service is interrupted this week.

The recommendation given to the city came from the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ).

The city said the voluntary boil notice will expire in 72 hours, unless the city decides to close it before the end of the three-day period.

If you lost water due to this week’s winter weather, DEQ recommends boiling water for a minute and then letting it cool down to room temperature. Anyone with skin wounds or other conditions should avoid bathing in water, unless they first consult a doctor.

Residents who reported discolored water coming back from the service are being asked to let the tap water run until it is clear again.
