Cinnamon Toast Crunch ‘Investigating’ Claiming Shrimp Tails in Cereals

Twitter users are scratching their heads over the allegation of a Los Angeles man that he found shrimp tails in his Cinnamon Toast Crunch – and the cereal manufacturer’s explanations for the alleged discoveries.

Jensen Karp, a writer and TV producer, contacted Cinnamon Toast Crunch’s Twitter account on Monday after he claimed to have discovered fish-like items in his cereal.

At first, the cereal’s social media team apologized and asked for more information.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch’s Twitter account claimed that what Karp thought were shrimp tails was actually “an accumulation of cinnamon sugar”.

Karp was skeptical. Very skeptical. So much so that he accused the cereal maker of lying by posting yet another photo of the pieces on Twitter.

He then dug deeper into the cereal bag, part of a double package purchased from Costco, and made other discoveries.

Karp said his wife, actress Danielle Fishel, also discovered what appeared to be dental floss in another bag of cereal.

Karp finally came up with the theory that the box was somehow infested by a mouse that left feces and other collections.

Neither Karp nor General Mills, which makes Cinnamon Toast Crunch, responded immediately to requests for comment.

On Tuesday, Jensen tweeted that he was taking the tails to a laboratory to test the DNA to see if it really was shrimp.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch issued a statement saying that everything Karp found in his cereal did not occur at any of its facilities, and told customers that they found similar findings to contact.
