The Bengals organization is planning a major shake-up on Zac Taylor’s technical team after Sunday’s final against the Ravens.
Sources tell AllBengals that the team will switch from multiple assistants at the end of the season.
The organization began considering major changes with the current coaching staff after Bengals lost to Dolphins in week 13. At that time, the team was close to the bottom of the NFL in several categories, including points scored (29th), races (30th) ) and total defense (26th).
League sources told AllBengals that Bengals’ front office was straightforward in its conversations with Taylor while assessing the direction of the franchise. The second year coach will return for a third season, but there will be many new faces on his team.
The organization started talking about the future with its current team this week.
Taylor praised his coaches on Wednesday.
“Extremely loud, extremely loud. You know, they were hired for a reason, “said Taylor when asked about his confidence in the Bengals coaching staff.” I think there is great communication in the team and [I’m] very, very satisfied with the work they are doing ”.
The Bengals apparently changed things with a short list. They won consecutive games for the first time in more than two years.
Cincinnati has also improved in several statistical categories in the past few weeks.
They went from 29th to 27th in points scored, from 30 to 25 in the run and from 26 to 22 in the total defense. These improvements will not be enough to save jobs, as the front office hopes to move the franchise forward in a positive way.
The team fought in the second year under Taylor. Although four wins are an improvement over the two-win season in 2019, the board wants this team to move forward in their reconstruction in hopes of competing in the difficult AFC North.
