Walmart has temporarily closed its supercenter in Chula Vista to allow the building to be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized, a Walmart spokesman confirmed to NBC 7.
The Chula Vista Supercenter located at 875 E. H St. closed Sunday at 2 pm and will reopen on Tuesday at 7 am
Walmart says the closure is part of a program initiated by the company to allow cleaning crews to clean and sanitize the building and to give employees time to replenish shelves to prepare the store for reopening.
Walmart sent the following statement:
“Everything we are doing is for the well-being of our associates and customers and taking into account the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and health specialists. When the store reopens on Tuesday, we will continue to conduct health checks and temperature checks for members, and all members will receive masks and gloves.
These protocols are in addition to the extensive measures we implemented during the pandemic to help protect our associates and customers, including installing sneeze protectors in the logs, temperature checks and mandatory mask use for members, placing social distance signs and emergency license policy execution for associates who cannot or are uncomfortable going to work. In addition, with the help of our health ambassadors, we will continue to require clients to wear protective facial covers while inside the building.
“We will continue to work closely with local and elected health officials, adjusting the way we serve the community and, at the same time, keeping in mind the health and safety of our customers and associates.”
