Chrome is the most popular mobile browser worldwide, and millions use it daily to browse the web and stay up to date with the latest information. It’s already integrated into the Google discovery feed on the New Tab page, which shows articles on topics you’ve shown interest in. In what appears to be the best way to recommend stories and help with content discovery, Google is testing a new “Follow” button in its Chrome Canary version.

This was seen by Chrome Story, who say the feature is under development and is not yet functional. The “Follow” button appears in the floating menu and there even appears to be an initial prompt that notifies users of its existence.

Interestingly, there is no feature flag you need to use to make this work and I was unable to identify the button on my phone. It is difficult to say what the feature is about, but – as suggested by Chrome Story – it looks like Google could be experimenting with the RSS reader functionality (remember Google Reader?) to reveal stories from sources you He follows. However, we can only confirm this if the feature works in a later version – note this space.
