Christie Brinkley doesn’t mind turning 67 because she feels (and looks) ageless.
The supermodel, whose February 2 birthday is coming up, spoke about aging after experiencing health problems and quarantine. “In 8 days, it will be Groundhog Day! And I’m going to be 50 for the 17th time! laughs a lot! “Brinkley joked in an Instagram post on Monday, sharing a photo of her wearing a baby blue sports bra and leggings.
“I love birthdays! I just don’t like the numbers, so I pretty much ignore them, I never felt as old as the number anyway … until this year, ”she said. “After my very unpleasant break in the right arm and the frozen shoulder that he gave me, I was unable to make dogs down, boards, push-ups and, on the other end, my hips were getting worse with each passing year and long bike rides me left me limping … I started to feel limited! Restricted! I dare say … old man! “
In September 2019, during rehearsals for the premiere of the 28th season of Dancing with the stars with professional Valentin Chmerkovskiy, Brinkley tripped and fell on his arm. “The second I landed, I felt the shards on my arm,” said Brinkley People after the incident. “Like, I literally felt it on my wrist, and immediately looked up and said, ‘I’m sorry, I broke my arm.'”
She added: “There is a small bone in the thumb that usually points to one side. Mine went in the opposite direction. So there was bone, just that, it was just broken into a thousand small pieces, just a million small pieces. ”Unable to participate in the popular television competition, she was replaced by her 22-year-old daughter Sailor Brinkley-Cook.
“I just couldn’t do enough vigorous exercise and with the quarantine came banana bread and the inevitable extra pounds,” wrote Brinkley in his post. “I must add that I felt overwhelmed by the number of injuries I was dealing with (I was very adventurous! Alas!), But I realized that I just needed to start with one thing and move on.”
After his fall, Brinkley underwent several surgeries, including injections of platelet-rich plasma, a therapy that can decrease inflammation. And this month, she had hip surgery related to a helicopter accident in 1994 during a ski trip in Colorado with friends. As reported that year by the Associated Press, the group was stuck at the top of a mountain for five hours before being rescued by cables.
Although doctors recommended a hip prosthesis 12 years ago, Brinkley admitted in an January 5 Instagram post that he postponed the “scary” procedure until recently.
Now she is “overjoyed” at being able to move her body again.
“So I acted, fixed my hips, did the total replacement,” she wrote in her last post. “I’m getting stronger every day and I like [to] I think I’m ready for anything … a walk, dive, paddle, ride, ski and even a big piece of birthday cake! Hey, I can fix this! “
