CHARLESTON, SC (WCIV) – The Lowcountry Food Bank is receiving help from a famous donor.
Actor Chris Pratt is donating $ 20,000 to support Lowcountry Food Bank in its fight against hunger in South Carolina.
The donation is part of a $ 650,000 fundraising effort by Pratt and Greater Good Charities that aims to combat food insecurity aggravated by the coronavirus pandemic.
The Jurassic World star helped create the Feed Your Neighbor campaign, where he donated $ 100,000 in matching funds and gave donors a chance to meet him via Zoom. Pratt says that in this troubled time “people are suffering”.
“One in four children in America this year may not know where their next meal will come from,” said Pratt. “The need is real.”
The Lowcountry Food Bank serves the 10 coastal counties of South Carolina and distributed more than 39 million pounds of food in 2020.
