If Olave had chosen to become a professional, he probably would have been selected in the first or second round of the draft. He decided to stay in Columbus for another year, however, for the opportunity to graduate from Ohio and try again to take the Buckeyes to a national championship.
As the main recipient of the Buckeyes for the past two seasons, Olave is poised to be one of Ohio State’s top team leaders in 2021. He will almost certainly be on the captaincy line and will provide an experienced target for whoever ends up being the successor. of Justin Fields as Ohio State’s next full-back.
In his first three seasons in Ohio, Olave has managed 111 passes for 1,775 yards and 22 touchdowns. He ranks sixth in Ohio state history in his career receiving touchdowns and 16th in receptions and receiving yards. Upon returning to the state of Ohio for another year, he will have the chance to continue climbing the record books and leave Columbus as one of the best wide receivers in the state of Ohio of all time.
With Olave back, the state of Ohio is about to have the best college football reception team in 2021. All five wide receivers who received passes in 2020 will be back in 2021 – Olave, Garrett Wilson, Jameson Williams, Julian Fleming and Jaxon Smith -Njigba – while other potential contributors in the role next season include fourth-year Kamryn Babb, second-year Gee Scott Jr. and Jayden Ballard’s freshman trio, Emeka Egbuka and Marvin Harrison Jr.
