Gladiator 2 was first speculated in 2018, with original reports stating that the sequel would take place 20-30 years after the death of Roman leader Maximus (Crowe).

“Russell thinks he may be the only man to play his son credibly in the aftermath of Gladiator,” explains the source.

The mysterious source also said that the actors had become closer since Russell joined Thor: Love and Thunder in filming in Sydney.
