Chris Harrisonthe apology would not have happened without a long conversation he had with the author Michael Eric Dyson … about historical racism and the perception of black people in this country.
Dyson joined us on “TMZ Live” on Friday to discuss the guidance he gave to the hostile host of the ‘Bachelor’ franchise … and said it was clear to him how Chris was genuinely committed to trying to fight the race .
He said, “You don’t have to spend 50 days with someone to find out if he is sincere or not and if he is willing to work. He was.”

As we report … Harrison mentioned Dyson during his ‘GMA’ interview as one of the people he turned to for advice after the reaction he received for excusing historical racism during an interview with the former ‘Solteira’ Rachel Lindsay.
Michael, who wrote “Long Time Coming: Reckoning with Race in America”, says he believes Chris is also not just trying to get his job back. Instead, he says that Chris “knew he had done something wrong and was extremely saddened by it”.
MED points to the fact that Harrison not only apologized to Rachel and the black community – but also made a point of reporting online trolls spewing hate in Rachel.
As for Harrison’s ‘bachelor’ future? Dyson says he doesn’t like the culture of cancellation – in fact, he calls it “fascist” and issues a warning to those on board.
