Chris Harris drives the Toyota GR Yaris

The GR Yaris is the car of the moment. We call the four-wheel drive hot hatch one of the best cars of 2020, despite Toyota’s decision not to sell it here in the United States. Is so good. Top Gear Presenter Chris Harris seems to like it as much as we do, judging by how much he likes to put things aside.

Harris had a chance to drive the Yaris at full speed Top Gear’s test track in Dunsfold, England for a recent episode of the show, allowing you to fully explore the limits of the capabilities of the rally homologation special. And he explores them.

It hardly takes time for Harris to turn the car in its “Sport” configuration, which sends 70 percent of the torque from the turbocharged three-cylinder to the rear wheels. This makes sustaining gigantic high-angle skids particularly easy, as he demonstrated above. He also likes that, whenever you apply the handbrake, the car disconnects the rear wheels from the transmission system, allowing for some rally hook slips.

I already said that and I will say it again: Toyota, please bring this car to the United States. Each team member in R&T is dying to drive one. Some of us, including myself, would be happy to own one.
