Dolphins general manager Chris Grier said at a news conference on Tuesday that he will not discuss the draft of the team’s strategy, but he shared information that should inform his plans with the two choices of the first round.

The Dolphins took defender Tua Tagovailoa with fifth overall choice in last year’s draft and were placed in the starting lineup in week 6. There were ups and downs for the rest of the season and the Dolphins pulled him in favor of Ryan Fitzpatrick in several games, but they are not looking for someone to put ahead of Tagovailoa on the depth chart.

Grier said he saw enough of the rookie in nine games to know that the team feels comfortable moving forward with him as a starter.

“Yours, I’m very happy with. He is our starting quarterback. . . . I thought Tua did a great job throughout the process, ”said Grier, through Adam Beasley, from Miami Herald.

There may be a team that wants to move on to the third overall choice of the Dolphins to add a quarterback and the right offer could lead to even more resources to be used to build a team around Tagovailoa for a 2021 post offer -season.
