Buccaneers wide receiver Chris Godwin says Tom Brady’s arrival changed the whole perspective of the team in 2020.
Godwin says Brady turned the Buccaneers into such a confident team that no one in the locker room ever doubted that they would end up winning the Super Bowl.
“I think the biggest thing he brought was just the mentality of expecting to win hoping to win, ”Godwin told Pat McAfee. “We’ve had a lot of talented guys for years, but we were never able to put them together. The team’s story kind of creeps into his mind. You get into games like, as a competitor, you’re like, ‘Yes, we can win this.’ But in reality, you are just hoping to win. But this year we approached each game as, ‘We’re sure we can win this game.’ . . . As soon as the playoffs arrived, there was no doubt in our mind that we were going to win. “
Brady texted his teammates “We’re going to win” every night the week before the Super Bowl. These fellows bought what Brady was selling.
