Captain America (Chris Evans) may return to theaters.

Not so fast, Cap fans. Actor Chris Evans has apparently addressed rumors that he may return as Captain America in a future Marvel Cinematic Universe film in a tweet sent on Thursday. Although Evans simply wrote “news for me”, he is probably responding to an exclusive report from Deadline. The publication cites unidentified sources who say Evans may follow a suggestion by Robert Downey Jr., who appeared as Iron Man in films where his character was not the main focus.
Evans gave no details and Marvel did not respond to a request for comment.
Apparently, the idea of Evans’ return – and his apparent denial – struck a chord with fans. In less than 20 minutes, Evans’ response was liked more than 47,000 times.
Before Evans’ response, Cap fans on social media seemed intrigued by the idea of the character’s return, some debating how it could happen. Captain America of Evans time traveled in 2019 Avengers: Endgame, returning to the film’s timeline as an elderly citizen after living the life of his dreams with Peggy Carter.
“Like, seriously! Who cares about deadlines?” wrote a Twitter user. “It’s a Marvel movie. I just want to see my favorite Chris in t-shirts two sizes smaller.”
