CNN host Chris Cuomo was mocked on Twitter for criticizing a Texas politician as his brother, Governor Andrew Cuomo, faces resignations and impeach requests after an exclusive Post report found that his government covered up thousands of deaths in COVID-19 nursing homes.
On a Thursday morning tweet, young Cuomo posted an article about a Texas mayor who stepped down after calling his voters “lazy” in the midst of a major power outage.
Cuomo asked his followers: “Resign or apologize and learn and become a better leader?”
Twitter users couldn’t help wondering if the television anchor was really talking about Governor Cuomo, who is involved in a scandal after his top aide admitted that Albany covered up thousands of coronavirus-related deaths in New York’s nursing homes. The tweet came a day after CNN reinstated Chris Cuomo’s ban on covering his brother amid the scandal.
Many of the 7,100 commenters on the tweet pointed out the irony of the rhetorical post.
“I don’t disagree, but considering the problems your brother is in right now, should you really do a tweet like this ?,” a Comment reading.
“This is great advice for your brother. Do you think he will accept it ”, a person wrote.
“I will accept ‘Things you should say to your inept brother’ for $ 500, Alex,” another sarcastically answered.
A user addressed the elephant in the room simply writing: “Should we tell him?”
The letter from the governor’s brother comes a day after Congressman Ron Kim – whose uncle died of coronavirus in a nursing home – claimed that the Democrat threatened to destroy his career if he did not help him stem the political damage from the Post’s report.
