A 9-year-old girl called 911 after her father shot and killed three people, including her mother, in an apparent murder-suicide in Brooklyn on Monday night, police said.
Police officers responded to the call at about 11:30 pm in an apartment building on Block 360 on Sutter Avenue, according to the New York Police Department. The officers found two people in the corridor and another in the living room. All were pronounced dead at the scene, the department said.
The names of the victims were not released, but officials said one of them was a teenager. The other two victims are women aged 20 and 45.
The police said the officers found the body of the 46-year-old sniper with a seemingly self-inflicted shot to the head on a walkway near the apartment. Two firearms were recovered near his body, according to authorities.
The girl emerged unscathed from the shooting, police said.
The authorities did not give details about the reason.
The incident occurred less than 12 hours after police in the Dallas suburb found six family members killed in an apparent murder-suicide. Allen’s police said two brothers made a suicide pact that included the death of other relatives.
