Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes will be on the field in Sunday’s AFC Championship Game against Buffalo Bills.

Mahomes told reporters on Friday that he can play:

By ESPN’s Adam Teicher, coach Andy Reid indicated on Friday that Mahomes only needed authorization from an independent neurologist and the Chiefs’ team doctor after going through all the other steps necessary to return from a concussion.

Reid added that Mahomes has “went well” and looked “normal” during the Chiefs’ training this week.

The Texas Tech product came out of the Kansas City divisional round win over the Cleveland Browns with a concussion, who left the team with Chad Henne in the center. To say it was a drop-off is a massive understatement, as the backup launched a terrible interception to keep Cleveland at an attack distance.

The Kansas City starter seems to be on his way to a great career of all time.

Mahomes is Super Bowl champion, league MVP and three-time Pro Bowler at just 25 years old. If he continues on his current path, he will be an infallible Hall of Fame member and a regular in debates over some of the best players of all time.

Facing a Bills team that has an explosive attack and won eight consecutive games, the Chiefs will need to do their best if they want to return to the Super Bowl for the second consecutive year.

A healthy Mahomes will go a long way in helping Kansas City achieve its goals.
