Chiefs OC, Eric Bieniemy, had a strong interview with Falcons, in the mix to be the next head coach

Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy had a strong interview with the Atlanta Falcons on Monday and is very committed to becoming the team’s new coach, according to a source involved in the hour-long interview.

Bieniemy, who is considered one of the main candidates for head coach and has already been interviewed for several head coach openings, “prepared, knew everything about the team, had a great plan and is a candidate in good faith,” said the source .

The source said Falcons officials are furious at reports that Bieniemy, 51, did not interview well and “totally refuted” those reports.

The success as coach of Bieniemy with the Chiefs and the strong recommendations of several league leaders, players and managers of other teams only increase his attractiveness, said the source.

Falcons are interviewing candidates for technician and general manager positions and will continue to do due diligence for the next few days, if not weeks, according to the source.

Atlanta fired coach Dan Quinn and GM Thomas Dimitroff during the season.
