Kansas City Chiefs are in the second consecutive Super Bowl after defeating Buffalo Bills 38-24 in the AFC Championship Game, but also suffered a major defeat during the match. During a play in the fourth period, offensive tackle Eric Fisher fell with what appeared to be a leg injury while blocking Patrick Mahomes’ blind side. Later in the quarter, the chiefs announced that Fisher was ruled out for the rest of the game due to an Achilles tendon injury. And although the significance of the injury was not revealed on Sunday night, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported that Fisher suffered an injury to the Achilles tendon. The injury will prevent him from playing in the Super Bowl LV.

The first general choice in the 2013 draft, Fisher has been nominated for the Pro Bowl in two of the past three seasons. Before suffering his injury on Sunday, Fisher had participated in 100% of the Chiefs’ offensive moves this season, without Kansas City losing in week 17 to the Chargers, a game that has seen several of the team holders fail, as they have already had conquered No. 1 seed.

The Chiefs have been forced to reorganize a little along the offensive line and the offensive Mitchell Schwartz has already started on the reserve through injury with a back injury. It would be absolutely brutal for the Chiefs if they were forced to try to stop names like Shaquil Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Super Bowl without Fisher and Schwartz. The pair of Barrett and Pierre-Paul combined for five bags in the NFC championship game against the Green Bay Packers.

When Fisher left the game, Mike Remmers moved from right to left and Andrew Wylie moved to the right. The Chiefs may decide to stick with this lineup change to the Super Bowl LV.
