Cornerback Deandre Baker had his first defense game since joining the Chiefs on Sunday, but his day came to an early end.

Baker suffered a horrible leg injury due to an incomplete failure by Justin Herbert early in the third quarter. He remained on the ground for a long time before being placed on a stretcher that was loaded onto a large cart so that he could be removed from the field.

Baker signed with the Chiefs’ practice squad after the armed robbery charges against him were dropped in November. He was chosen in the first round of the Giants in 2019, but was released by the team after these charges were initially brought forward.

The Chiefs are still behind the Chargers 24-14, but the result will have no impact on the future of the playoffs. They are stuck in AFC’s No. 1 seed.
