Chicago Police Sergeant Shot in the Face Outside the Police Station

A Chicago police sergeant was shot in the face on Sunday afternoon in the city’s 6th district, the department said.

Chicago police superintendent David O. Brown said the sergeant suffered a scrape wound in the chin area and was transported to a local hospital in “good condition”.

Brown said the sergeant is recovering at the hospital and is “in a good mood”.

“Our policemen show a tremendous level of resilience and put themselves in danger every day, whether it is answering a call or simply stopping in their own parking lot,” said Brown.

It is not yet clear whether the sergeant – whose identity has not been released – was intentionally shot or hit by a stray bullet.
