Chicago Bears signs OLB Jeremiah Attaochu for 2-year contract

The Chicago Bears stepped up its passing race with the addition of linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, who signed a two-year contract with Bears on Sunday.

A former second-round player in 2014, Attaochu has spent the past two seasons at the Denver Broncos. In his career, he recorded 20.5 sacks and 144 tackles in 74 games with 23 matches.

In 2020, Attaochu appeared in 13 games with the Broncos, including five matches, and totaled 5.0 sacks, nine quarterback strikes and 31 tackles, which was the second longest of his career out of his 2015 season (6.0 sacks and 55 tackles) with Los Angeles Porters.

Attaochu joins a passing race consisting of Khalil Mack and Robert Quinn, the two highest-paid players on the team. He seems to play a role similar to what Barkevious Mingo played last season, where he shared the reps with Quinn and saw significant action.

Attaochu becomes the fourth free agent Chicago has signed this season, joining names like quarterback Andy Dalton, striker Angelo Blackson and cornerback Desmond Trufant.
