It was a busy low season for Washington Spirit. The club acquired defenders Kelley O’Hara and Emily Sonnett through exchanges, hired Swedish midfielder Julia Roddar and they signed one of the main possibilities, Trinity Rodman. They also continued to make changes to the team’s culture at all levels.

Now, the Spirit is ready to make even more fundamental changes. According to several sources with knowledge of the situation, the club is expected to aggregate a number of high-profile investors, including Chelsea Clinton and Jenna Bush Hager. The Washington Post was the first to report the news.

On Tuesday, Spirit declined to comment when asked about possible changes to its ownership group.
