Paramount Pictures gave us our first look at Rugrats’ new reboot series, featuring several voice actors from the cast of the original Nickelodeon series.
News of the animated animated series of Rugrats in CG was reported by various media at the end of last year, but the first official trailer confirms that the show is in development and on its way to the streaming service Paramount Plus. The first trailer for the series features some familiar babies – seen here with an updated animation style – going through what appears to be a typical Rugrats episode.
“Tommy, Angelica, Chuckie and the rest of the Rugrats gang are back for a new animated CG series at Paramount Plus!” Says the official synopsis for the next series. “Settle in your high chairs for this exciting first look at the show, which continues the children’s story of Nickelodeon’s classic hit from the 90s. Then get ready to meet with the iconic group of babies – voiced by members from the original cast – as they embark on a new batch of epic adventures! “
We just heard Tommy, Chuckie and Angelica talk, but you can also see the twins Phil and Lill, as well as Angelica’s best friend, Susie, in the trailer. Paramount didn’t reveal much about the plot of the new series, but the Rugrats seem to be the same age here as the original Nickelodeon design.
In the trailer above, we see the shy classic Chuckie being tricked into stealing some cookies by the angelic dish. Fortunately for everyone, Chuckie inadvertently frustrates Angelica’s scheme by not knowing what the word “pantry” means.
