Chase Elliott will start from the rear of the field for the 2021 Busch Clash (7 pm ET on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio) because of unapproved adjustments to No. 9 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

NASCAR officials made the announcement about an hour before the exhibition started. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion was scheduled to start in seventh place after Monday night’s random virtual draw by the respective pilots’ team leaders.

Tuesday night’s unpunctured race on the Daytona International Speedway Road Course kicks off the 2021 season, with 21 drivers racing for 35 laps, with a warning scheduled for lap 15. This will be the first time that the Busch Clash will be run on the course road.

Elliott prevailed for the last four consecutive Cup Series road events, including the series’ inaugural race on the 3.61-mile course.
