Chargers request interview with Giants OC Jason Garrett

Just a year after splitting from the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett is back in the running for a position as head coach in the NFL.

Garrett, who just ended his first season with the New York Giants as his offensive coordinator, is being considered to replace Anthony Lynn in Los Angeles, according to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

The Chargers, who fired Lynn on Monday morning, requested an interview with Garrett on Monday night.

The Chargers fired Lynn after four years, despite his streak of four consecutive victories until the end of the season. Lynn has had 33-31 in her career with the team, although 12-20 in the past two seasons.

Jason Garrett joined the Giants after a long stint in the Cowboys

Garrett spent a decade with the Cowboys and racked up an overall record of 85-67 before being fired after last season.

Although he led the Cowboys to three NFC East titles and won the Associated Press Coach of the Year award in 2016, Garrett made it to the playoffs only three times and was only 2-3 in the postseason.

When Cowboys owner Jerry Jones changed direction and hired Mike McCarthy, Garrett went to Joe Judge and the Giants.

New York had just 6-10 and was second in the league in yards per game and points per game, the Chargers apparently think Garrett is ready for another chance at leading a team.
