Chargers News: Bolts land in South Carolina CB in the last simulation

So far this season, the players mocked by the Chargers have mostly been in three different positions: offensive tackle, edge rusher and cornerback. We saw some names repeated across the multitude of mocks posted weekly, but we have a new name in the last mock made by Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports.

With the Chargers in 12th place, Wilson makes them choose South Carolina cornerback Jaycee Horn, son of former NFL wide receiver Joe Horn.

The 6’1 horn was a selection of the second All-SEC team in 2020, after starting seven games before opting out of the rest of the season after coach Will Muschamp left. In these seven games, Horn recorded 16 tackles in total, one loss tackle, two interceptions and six pass separations. Wilson describes Horn as a “physical and creative cornerback ” that he believes could add a stable presence in a cornerback room that is likely to lose some bodies in the off-season.

Horn is arguably the most physical player in his draft position. He consistently went through the opposing blockers, rather than around, to make moves on or near the scrimmage line. He’s not afraid to get his hands dirty and that’s certainly the kind of corner Gus Bradley needs for his defense.
