Champion Edition are effectively different games

Before the global pandemic COVID-19 took place, most Street Fighter 5 tournaments were played using the PlayStation 4 version. As competitors can now participate in online events using the PC version, players are more aware of issues that are unique to the Playstation 4.

Thanks to the efforts of FGC Translated, we recently listened to the views of BST | Daigo Umehara on the differences between the PlayStation 4 and PC versions of Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition.

“By the way, today I played this game on PlayStation 4. It was a completely different game,” said Daigo. “It’s so different that learning to play on the PC makes it weaker on the PlayStation 4 version. It can impair your gameplay on the PC. It’s just as different as Ultra Street Fighter 4 on the Xbox and PlayStation 4.”

Generally speaking, the PC version is often considered the top version of Street Fighter 5. It is interesting to hear Daigo claim that the two look like completely different games from each other. Daigo was even able to work out a specific situation in which the outcome of a game may change based on the version of the game being played.

“On PlayStation 4, I missed Guile’s strong crouching anti-aircraft punch,” continued Daigo. “It’s been a while since that happened. My reaction was good, but I still missed the heavy punch in a crouch. I was like ‘Oh, right. It used to happen.'”

In the first half of the video, Daigo talks about how hopeless things look for Kage. Skip to about 5:50 to hear Daigo’s dialogue about comparisons between PC and PlayStation 4.
